Pantone picks the world’s fashion colours each year as they announce colour of the year in the fashion annual report. Pantone Colour of the Year … well, let us all start with, Pantone which is associated with ink, CMYK and printing. Or, you may have heard of Pantone Colour Charts. So, what does that have to do with getting married? I would say a lot.
This maybe your first time ever realising that fashion from clothes, tiles, carpet, etc and yes, even cars all are influenced by Pantone. Crazy as it may seem, Pantone has a huge collection of designers from around the world – the best of the best from a multitude of fields. They collaborate through the year to develop a theme that dictates the colours to influence the next year’s world. They are an amazing group of specialist.
You probably have never thought or realised that when you go shopping many of the stores have the same colours or similar colours. You see those colours appear in the interior design magazines, cars, and many other places.
It is one of the most important fashion shows in the world as each year during Fashion Week around September/October; Pantone announces the Fashion Colour Report. The selection is a group of colours that work harmoniously together. Then like a beauty pageant, towards the end of the year, Pantone announce the Pantone Colour of The Year. All the ink houses, textiles, looms, advertising agencies, print houses, design fields, etc have only a few months to get everything ready for you to see the reveal of the selection throughout every store to magazine to online shopping.
While, there will always be the trusted classics with colour, the fashion colours hit the press, shops and even your local stores are all influenced by these new exciting colours. So, take a few minutes, type into Google or any other search engine a year maybe, 2014, 2015, 2016 or even 2017 Pantone Fashion Trends or Colours and try Colour of the Year and watch what appears.
Interestingly, this is the first year ever in history of Pantone that they have announced two colours – calling them twin colours. Yes, 2016 Pantone colour of the Year is both 13-1520 Rose Quartz and 15-3919 Serenity.
